pppd died: pppd options error (exit code 2)
Hi.
I'm running a dual-boot Win98/Suse 8 machine, and I'm trying to get my Alcatel Speedtouch USB modem working in my linux partition. Using Yast2 I've configured the network screen with my username, password, PPPoATM, set 'VPI 0, VCI 38' (for British telecom), yet when I try to start Kinternet nothing happens. I look in the log and get: pppd: Plugin pppoatm.so loaded pppd: PPPoATM plugin_init pppd: Plugin passwordfd.so loaded pppd died: pppd options error (exit code 2) I've checked that rcsmpppd is running ('rcsmpppd status') anyone know what exit code 2 is and what i can do to fix it? My progress in Linux is real slow ATM, as every time I have a problem I have to boot into Windoze to log on and find an answer! Oh, slightly seperate question: I thought Linux could read windows disks? I tried saving the log file to a win98 floppy so that I could just cut and paste it into here, yet when I booted into windows and looked on the floppy the file wasn't there. Anyone any ideas? I tried mounting the Windows partition ('mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /mnt') but the system wouldn't save the log file to myDocuments... TIA ianwest |
With regard to your second question, are you given any errors? You also might want to check out what you have in your /etc/fstab file. I can read/write to my Windows partitions fine, and I have:
/dev/hda1 /mnt/win_c vfat users,iocharset=iso8859-15,umask=0,codepage=850 0 0 |
don't use Kinternet for an alcatel speedtouch... check out this site:
