power outage system fails to boot

power outage, system fails to boot errors dev/mapper/LVM1- Home; contains a file system with errors... dev/mapper/LVM1-Home; nodes that were part of a corrupted orphan lst found run fsch manually without -a or -p options.....dev/mapper/LVM2-I230G: clean, 6770/15302656 files, 2443690/61209066 blocks failed receiving enter admin pswd or ctrl-d to continue. Can not enter admin pswd can not get past this message.

new user to linux world was told to use linux installation cd and to choose upgrade to same version, this would fix the problem and retain original configuration and data, is this the best way to go????

Does NOT sound like a good idea to me because there are too many options that have to be chosen the same way. Some things do not recreate over corrupted files cleanly.

Too much missing information.
Is this a RAID system using LVM ??
Is the RAID setup correctly ?? A misconfigured RAID looks like scrambled eggs to a filesystem driver.
Which filesystem is on the boot harddrive ??
Are you actually using the right fschk for the filesystem ??
What boot (GRUB, LILO, Windows) has the MBR and did any other file system recovery (LIKE WINDOWS) try to fix the disk (which might have wiped out your GRUB boot setup, like the RAID configuration)??
