Power down problem

I have been away from Linux for two years and now I back. I have two boxes sitting side by side, both are running RH 9.0. On "init 0" one box remains on while the other goes all the way down. I've check the threads and found that the Kernel should be compiled with ACPI support. How can I tell if the Kernel was already compiled with this support?

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.
