postgresql - postmaster is taking 99% of memory

Hi All,

In my linux machine postmaster is eating 99-100% of the memory. I have confirmed it using top command.

After that I switched into postgres account and stopped the postmaster. When I give ps -ef|grep postmaster it does n't show postmaster. But still top commands shows that postmaster is eating 99% of CPU.

Can anyone know the reason please let me know then it becomes great help for me.

Regards,
Thamizh

Hi,

Can you post the output of top you're talking about in code tags,
tell us which version of postgres on which version of Linux you're
using, and what postgres in that installation is being used for?

Cheers,
Tink
