Hello. Could someone check this for me? I tried to send mail to localhost (ubuntu server) but when i tried to view it in log file, it gave me this:

xanios@ubuntu:~$ tail -f /var/log/mail
tail: cannot open `/var/log/mail' for reading: No such file or directory
tail: no files remaining
in my /etc/postfix/

myhostname = ubuntu
alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases
alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases
mydestination = $myhostname, $mydomain, localhost.localdomain, localhost
relayhost =
mynetworks = [::ffff:]/104 [::1]/128
mailbox_size_limit = 0
recipient_delimiter = +
inet_interfaces = all
myorigin = /etc/mailname
inet_protocols = ipv4
I tried to test if postfix is working by sending a test mail:

xanios@ubuntu:~$ mail -s "test mail" -v xanios@localhost
i'm not sure if xanios@localhost used is correct.. i want to send to localhost to see if i can receive the mail, if it does then my postfix should be working, am i right to say that?

As seen above in, my ubuntu server hostname is ubuntu. So for the emailID (xanios@localhost) should i write as ubuntu? Or ?

Sorry if i sounded confusing. =S

p/s: i'm using ubuntu 9.10
