Posted Disk made Ubuntu installation seamless
I invested $15.00 in a Posted Disk with Ubuntu from Best $15 I ever spent. With it I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my Dell Latitude and a Lenovo R61i (both laptops and Ubuntu installation on laptops has historically been challenging). Everything, including wireless, worked without any tinkering on my part. Installation on both machines took less than an hour. I'm not new to Ubuntu - I've used it since Edgy, but my experience with the posted disk was so easy that I would recommend it to anyone, experienced or not. The posted disk made Ubuntu work "right out of the box" and I think that has been the goal of Ubuntu since its early years.
Ubuntu recognizes my two Logitech webcams as soon as I plug them in - no installation of drivers. To get Skype to work I had to go to Video and choose the camera and click on the input under Sound. So, in all honesty, I did have to tinker a little, but I spent less time getting Skype to work on my Ubuntu machines than I did on my desktop MS XP machine.
This is my first post on LinuxQuestions and I must confess that I feel a little intimidated. Most of the posts contain a scary amount of "geek speak". I have tried to avoid that in this post. Hopefully "seamless" will not confuse anyone.

For future reference, anyone can make one of these using remastersys.
Also, that cd might be illegal for distribution in the United States, just wanted you to know.

Of course, anyone can make those, but I imagine many won't bother if they can have it done for you for just 15 dollars.
If the cd contains patented software, it's likely to be in the shady area but then what are the chances of patent holders going after individual users? And it's not any worse than Mint of PCLinuxOS, which have been offering a similar kind of distribution for a few years now.
