Possibly the least techie minded person on here needs major help...
Guys + Gals,
I've bought myself a netbook- it came with suse 10. something (i can't even find out which version i've got). Anyway i love the whole open source ethos but have never done diddly when it comes to programming. Everything seems to work-except i haven't a clue what to do or how. i can't even open up a YasT window to install Gaim/pidgin/whatever version it should be. It's the same with everything else. Banshee, plays mp3 but nothing else and i can't put anything onto this book.... Can anyone help me?.... Sorry in advance, for being so pathetic Andy. |
What exactly are you looking for help on? When you talk about programming, are you actually looking to program on the machine, or is that what you refer to as using the computer?

Programming would mean to create scripts or applications to do some specific tasks.
The topics you refer to appear to be questions about how to use a Linux system, Suse in particular. When you login to your user account, you should be able to find the available application in the main menu. Where that menu exactly is, depends on the window manager in question. Should be KDE for Suse by default. Even if you don't see Yast in the menus, but you can open a terminal, then you should be able to run Quote:
Maybe you need to login as root to have Yast available in the menus. I'm not sure, it's been a while since I used Suse for the last time. Linux Archive |
