portmap shell script
 
I dont have portmap shell script in my /etc/rc.d/init.d so how can i get it. pls help.

It would help to know what distribution you are using.

You can try looking for rpcbind though.

is rpcbind same as portmap script
also i have rhelversion 6 does it has anything to do with type of os pls suggest.thks in advance.

rpcbind is a reimplementation of the BSD portmap function.

One check on the distribution is that newer implementations of NFS don't require portmap. They use NFSv4 with a specific port, therefore they don't need a portmap function.
