port forwarding without router

Dear all ,

I need to access web pages running on my linux system from anywhere in the world.so,I have immplemented port forwarding using upnp technique in routers.but as not all routers support upnp ,is there anyway to do port forwarding without router.

you can do port forwarding in iptables, however it would be helpful to know what exactly you are trying to achieve with this so more information to the actual problem at hand would be preferable.

if "without a router" means: ur PC is connected directly to the internet, (modem -> PC, instead of: modem -> router -> PC)
u dont need to forward the ports, just open them the firewall of ur PC and ur set!

If there is no router, and you are connected directly to the internet via DSL or Cable, there is no need as there is no firewall closing all the ports. But if you have a firewall on your computer, you must configure it to open the ports you need
