POP3 Password Recovery from Root in RHL 3ES

Dear All:

How can I recover a POP3 user's password in an UNencrypted way? I have access to root. I use RHL 3ES/Enterprise.
Appreciate your advice in advance.

you don't recover passwords. you just set new ones you know. the point of password encryption is to make things one way only, it's not possible to retrieve them.

That's what I was afraid of.
Well, well, I'll reset them then.
Thank you.

Heh - well, if the passwords were very weak (e.g.
dictionary words, shorter than 6 characters) a brute
force method with John the Ripper may work ;)

Cheers,

Nope, they're b/w 8 to 14 chrs.
I guess it's easier to reset them & make users remember/put them down somewhere; less overhead on my time.
Thanks for the tip too.
