Pop up Window (do you know what it means)

i installed linux onto a clean HD with no partitions or anything like that, the computer has video and graphics cards built in but with no drivers (maybe wrong).
after the installation the media players (amorack + kafine) worked but flash from the web had no sound.
i have this popup on occasion, the last time was when i was saving a config file under root

Howdy,
Can you run your hardware browser, and post what it comes up with under sound cards? Also, what kind of motherboard do you have? I know that VIA soundcards can be pretty finicky about using a generic driver...
Anyway, the big thing is what the hardware browser lists as the card...

What the error saids. Your sound card is busy playing sound with an unknown sound program. Some sound cards have software mixing, so you have to use ALSA dmixer to mix all sources together to one device. For the flash player not outputting any sound, again the sound card is in use with an another program. The flash player outputs its audio to OSS, so you have to use aoss. Read ALSA documentation about asoundrc file.

My Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 is based on a VIA ENVY 1724HT chip. No it is not glitchy at all. The problem with it is there is no hardware mixing, so I had to add lines to ~/.asoundrc to mix the the audio. Also I had to edit a line in the mozilla-launcher script to include aoss to make it play sound for flash files.

The sound card is a SiS7012 PCI Audio Accelerator from Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS]

it indicates the driver as being the snd-intel8x0 and alternative drivers ali5455, i810_audio, nvaudio
