plz help


I just put red hat 7.2 on a friends puter and when it boots up it says eth0 FAILED every thing runs fine but i cant get it online its not decting the cable modem but it does detect the network card??????

is the cable modem plugged in to the linux box, or ( I assume) is it connected via the network card in the linuxmachine. I assume that you have had this hardware configuration running on windows?

Can you confirm that the network card has been detected properly/has the correct drivers installed etc?

Is it possible for you to post the boot log?
