Question plug ins?

It seems like i go to sites and it well say i need a plug in of some sort.So i look for the plug in and none are available.
I did notice the newest java plug in isnt supported by LINUX,yet.Youtube asks for this everytime.
Im new to linux,i use Fedora.Ive noticed that with fedora, google youtube is used and i cant bring up my old account with my subscriptions.I thought youtube was just youtube?
Feel sympathy for the computer illiterate.Go easy on me.

Kapie,
which Fedora? Are all the updates done? Plugins in this context are linked to browsers and if your membership was linked to IE then your account will expect IE. Short answer is if you must have an 'account' with youtube, create a new one using Fedora.

Which browser have you used on before?
I can access my Youtube profile without any problems using Firefox (Windows and Linux) and Google Chrome.

as to plugins

youtube is using flash and javascript
you might want to have a look at Mjmwired's page
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f17.html

however unlike internet explorer on windows Firefox will NOT auto run java-script by default( it is a major security risk)

YOU have to turn it on
in firefox
edit/ preferences/content
and put a check in "enable java-script"

also if you have "no-script" installed you need to allow that site

----------------------

from your post it is looking like you WANT a MS windows "point and click" clone
fedora will NEVER be that

so if you ARE looking for a point and click FREE copy of windows 7
fedora IS NOT THAT

buy windows7 business ( win7 home SUCKS,it is missing a lot of needed things )

now fedora is a "special case" operating system
It is a VERY FAST passed "Research and Development" operating system
to use a car( automotive) analogy

If you WANT ( and a do mean WANT) to get your hands dirty and rebuild an engine ,change your own oil and hydraulic fluid
replace your transmission
change your own breaks
and so on

if you WANT to learn HOW a computer works and HOW to fix it then fedora IS A GOOD choice

fedora is a testing R & D OS and as such is using the newest of the new
often SO new that sometimes , no one yet supports some things in fedora .
