pls help me!!! :banghead: (and sory for my poor inglish ) |
You need to create a "normal" user, enter this at the prompt:
Code:
adduser then whatever name you want Then log out (exit), as root, and log in with the user name you chose. Then try startx again. |
to login as root its inposible ???
|
You are logged in as root when the prompt says root@darkstar.
|
i have try to add new user but when i login and pres startx apears the same "command not found" .
|
Did you make the recommended full install?
|
It does seem to me that you are running into troubles that ought not to be there ... and that you have very recently installed Linux such that the simplest thing to do might be to just start over.

It's sounding like you haven't got X installed. Can you show us the link for the .iso you used to install Slackware? (or even tell us the steps you took to install it)
|
this slackware i had downloaded 3or4 months ago and i dont rememember fron were .if i understand right the problem its the in slackware so i will download it again but the new 13.37 and if its the same problem i will post here again.
anyway thx all for the help. |
And cut out all the  stuff in future. It might put people off helping you.

By default, Slackware allows root logins and allows root to "startx."
Consequently, I think your install is missing some crucial component(s). Try again and select the "Full Install" option, installing all the default packages. Given the way you've described the issue, I don't see any other easy alternatives. |
