Question Please set me straight...I'm confused.

I have a scientific-Atlanta WebStar cable modem. It has both a USB connection port and an ethernet port. Which one am I supposed to use? What happens if I connect them both? At the same time.? What are the advantages of one over the other? I'm new at this (bet you couldn't have guessed that!) Thanks for any and all information.

Hello littlebit

Only one at a time, and I doubt you will get Linux to work with the USB output.

The ethernet will probably set up with no problems at all.

For most internet connection devices ethernet is reckoned to be the most reliable method of connection.

I have the same modem connected via ethernet to a netgear nic. I think, *if* you can get usb to work at all, the main difference is that the cpu does more processing for usb.
