Please please, help me remove grub!
Hello,
I hope someone out there can help me. Just last night, I installed RHL 9 in a dual-boot with W2K. Everything was going ok, except for a minor problem with my video card. To make a long story short, in the end I have decided to forego the dual boot, and install RHL 9 on a dedicated machine. So, what I did was -- stupily -- while booted into Windows, I reformatted the drive on which I had installed Red Hat. All seemed to be going well UNTIL I rebooted my machine a few hours later. Now, all I get is: grub> How can I get rid of grub, which has been left "orphaned" on my primary drive? Please help! Thanks! |
just start the computer with a startup disk or a bootable win cd and when ur in dos type :
fdisk /mbr this will erase grub from the master boot record |
Trouble is, I don't have a W2K boot disk -- I only have the Red Hat boot disk...
Can I use that? If so, how do I get to a command prompt? I really do know next to nothing... Thanks for your very quick response, BTW! |
you could go to www.bootdisk.com and see if you cant get one there..
|
ok. thanks...
I got a W2K boot disk... |
