Hello,
I'm new here. However, I thought this would be the right place to ask. I'm
in the process of doing proof of concept work at my employer on installing
a Redhat server for web development over our Solaris box. One goal is to
show how we can use the Redhat Network, up2date, and RPM's to create our
own custom installs for our servers. I'm having some trouble though. I
need Oracle support with the php install. I started down the rebuilding
from source rout and then found out how to use the rebuild of the SRPMS. I
got more excited when I found out that Redhat had anticipated this need by
including it as an option in the specs file. In the specs file it says I
type this:
rpm --rebuild --define 'oracle 1' php4.2.1-x.src.rpm
So I'm thinking this is old because when I do this it says that --build
option is old. I have Redhat 9 installed and so I look it up and I guess
it changed to rpmbuild. So I change that and change the version number as
I'm rebuilding the 4.2.2 rpm. I do this then I get these errors:
rpm -bb
Installing php-4.2.2-17.src.rpm
cat: /usr/include/httpd/.mmn: No such file or directory
error: Failed build dependencies:
bzip2-devel is needed by php-4.2.2-17
freetype-devel is needed by php-4.2.2-17

postgresql-devel is needed by php-4.2.2-17
unixODBC-devel is needed by php-4.2.2-17
net-snmp-devel is needed by php-4.2.2-17
Am I doing this correctly? Here are my steps. I install Redhat 9 from CD,
install Oracle from CD, then install the SRPMS from CD, rebuild and
reinstall PHP. Is this correct order? Whay are all the dependeancies not
working? Do reinstall all those packages too? Any help would greatly be
appreciated as I would love to be developing on Redhat instead of Solaris.
It seems that Redhat just has the stuf that a web developer like my self
just wants on the box already. It's like Ragu - it's in there.
As I don't frequent this board much could you please email me with any
help?
