Please help me with solving grub rescue error

I accidently deleted the linux partition in my lenovo laptop and from that i couldn't access my laptop.
When i power on it doesn't goes to the booting option.
Rather, it goes to a screen which shows the following:
" Error: unknown filesystem.
Entering rescue mode...
grub rescue>_ "
I have read many forums and posts and couldn't find any solution. I'm new to the forum. Can anyone please help me...
(I don't have a cd drive in the laptop)

The easy thing to do would be to reinstall the same systems again. Trying to recover a deleted partition is tricky, to say the least, but it can be done. You'll need some kind of bootable media to do it from, though. This page tells you more:

thanks guyonearth,
I don't know if I could be able to boot from a USB device as my laptop doesn't have a CD drive.

also, just when I start my computer, the lives , " unknown file system
grub error
entering grub rescue "
appears and I'm not able to do anything.

Use a different computer to make a bootable Flash/USB device with one of the rescue systems on it, like grml, SystemRescueCD or RIP Linux on it, then boot from that (you have to change the boot order in the BIOS to boot from USB) and use the Testdisk program to recover your Linux partition.

What kind of Linux (ie what version, distribution, etc.) and how did it get on there in the first place?

Does the laptop have a place to install a CD drive---if so, that would be a good thing to do for the long term.

These are not related.

Can you get into the BIOS setup and see what it says about booting from USB?

thanks tobisgd and pixellany

The USB drive was recognized and I've made it to the top priority order.
I'll do it a bootable flash disk tomorrow and try..

yes the CD drive can be installed it seems and I'll surely see to that.

You should be able to boot from an external CDROM as well, I would think.

Which distribution of Linux?
Did you also delete a Linux partition which you had on the computer?
Do you have the flash set to first boot priority in the BIOS?
How did you get whichever distribution of Linux you have on the flash drive?
