Please help me


Sir

I am using RHEL 4 in which i cannot play a video file or a VCD.
I tried to install Kaffine and Xine. But i failed in both cases.

Iam a beginner of linux usage and please help me in that mannner.

Plese let me know whether a media player is available which i can install in this OS., or is it my installation mistake.

Please help me solve the issue

Download the kaffine rpm, or use it from the installation disk and install it using the following command
rpm -ivh --aid kaffine......rpm --force

Thanks for the reply. But the kaffine i think is not compatible with my Linux, or its only for Debian.

Where can i download Kaffine for RHEL 4. I cannot find it with the help of google.

Go to http://rpm.pbone.net, click "Advanced search", uncheck all distros besides RHEL 4 and then do a search for Kaffeine. You get several links.

You can use your distro package manager to install/upgrade software. It should take care of dependancies.

Thank you sir as i found Kaffine for Red Hat EL4 from RPM PBONE.net.

Sir, will it support media files in the extension .DAT, as most of the VCD's comes with a .Dat extention.

I think it can. It appears to be based on Xine, which can play VCDs.

You must remember to install codec's, or els it wont run any files
