Please Help. I'm can't reboot my Linux. Giving me something about a "superblock..."
 

Hi All,
I just downloaded and Linux Slacko Puppy 5.3 yesterday and was able to connect to the internet. Today I tried to reboot because I was getting messages about personal storage space not being enough and long story short, when I try to boot up with the cd it keeps saying that "the superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem". It also says something about a " Bad magic number in superblock while trying to open /dev/loop1", and to try running e2fsck with an alternated superblock. Could someone please help? I don't understand what this means or what to do. Thank you.

It's seems like great info, but I don't know what they are saying to do or where to do it...LOL.Are the sections highlighted in the info box what I should type into the computer and if so where and how? I am totally new to having to do something else besides clicking a Windows' yes or no button. Would you help me understand what I should do? Thanks.

Seems to be a bad disc or memory issue.


I assume you can't boot to the live cd, is that correct?

Yes, correct, I can't boot from the cd. Not sure if it's a live cd or not, I just downloaded a puppy program and copied the iso on disc and downloaded. It is puppy slacko 5.3 that started doing this, but I tried to install a different version, like 5.5 and it's giving me the same response. If it's got something to do with memory, what can I do? I have a flash drive, but I think it's full now and I have a external hard drive with important info on it. Can't back it up right now. Could I run puppy from a cd, but save the info to my external hard drive while keeping my existing data?

If you just copy the *.iso to the CD, all you have is a copy of the *.iso, and it will not boot.

In your burning program, you need to find the item for "burn image." That will unpack the *.iso to the CD and replicate the file structure and contents of the original CD.

Different burning programs hide it in different places. In K3B, it's under the "Tools" menu. Depending on the program, it may be elsewhere, but, if you hunt around a bit, you will find it.

If you want to run from a CD, find a 'LiveCD' . This is a version of Linux that runs from the CD; does not use the Hard disk.
