Please Help "error autorunning software cannot find autorun program"
hello everyone,
i'm using ubuntu 11.10 oneiric ocelot in my acer 4741 laptop. everytime i insert any removable media like flash disk or memory cards i keep on getting "error autorunning software cannot find autorun program" it seems that the autorun is not present and when i insert any CD or DVD, it won't autoplay. i already did the settings in system settings->removable media but i doesn't help. thanks |
Hi, welcome to LQ
Ubuntu 11.10 is outdated. Please install/upgrade to 12.04 or 12.10 beta (it will be released in a few day, it should be quite final by now). I don't advice an upgrade for your issue as your current settings are most likely the cause of the problem. Can you also try to create a new user account and see if the problem is there too? |
Auto run is a feature used in windows Operation systems. You sometime seen this CD/DVD working as described.
Case your CD contains some songs can open the default program in auto run programs will not open normally. |
that is most likely the Microsoft "autorun.ini/bat "
even Microsoft has DISABLED that very bad idea of theirs . however your desktop manager should ASK you what to do with this newly mounted usb flash drive or card or ask what to do with a dvd or cd mind you a music cd will behave very differently than a data cd now if "wine" is installed WINE might be trying to run the Microsoft autorun |
