Please help
 

I'm just installed first time Linux 10.0 when I reboot my computer there are asking for login and password.

If i enter inm login "root" or "as root" and then correct password then i get the message "incorect login".

When I try to login as user login "linda" and then corect password I get last login ... (day month year and so on) and the next line is
[linda@localhost linda]$ and when i try to enter startx i show errors and that he couldn't conect but its black screen and nothing else. when i type help there is much of commands wich moust don't work. what to do??
How can i get a start or somethin like under windows???

Can you post the exact errors you are getting when startx fails. Also are you sure you are entering the right root password?

password is correct. and here are errors:

execve failed for /etc/x11/X (errno 2)
giving up
xinit: no such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect to X server
xinit: no such process (errno 3): server error
[linda@localhost linda]$

i realy don't know what to do. I already reinstalled 3 times but nothing has change.

What Linux distribution are you using (there is nothing like Linux 10 since Linux is used to refer to the kernel)?

Mandrakelinux 10.0

Try reconfiguring the xserver (run xorgconfig) or reinstalling your X server packages (I think its xorg on Mandrake 10).
