Please Help!

I have a Dell computer that is about 3 years old. It has a 40GB hard drive, pentium 4 2.0ghz processor, 384mb pc2100 ram. I have windows xp home on it and want to get rid of windows and install linux. I have two different versions of linux, red hat linux 9 and meso?? or something like that. I tried to install it and it popped up an error message saying that i am out of hard drive space. I tried a few more times and tried formatting my hard drive differently and it still did not work. Which version of linux would be best for a beginner like me? Why is it not installing right? Please post on here or e-mail me at joe_chonk@hotmail.com

In order to install it, you have to boot into it. You can do it in 2 ways:

a) Make boot floppies
b) Have a bootable CD

Pop it in there and turn the pc on, there is no reason why it should tell you that you are out of disk space (i.e. unless your hard drive is dead).

You probably have a bootable cd (Redhat 9.0). Make sure u turn the pc off and have it boot from the cdrom.
