I realize you're trying a new distribution, I just wanted to add that I downloaded OpenSUSE from opensuse.org, and put my password in when I log in. It's just an option when you enter your user name and password during the installation, you can check or uncheck it. It's 'Automatic Login'.

@chigurh8: Yes, but did you require a password to use the live CD (ie before installing it on your hdd)?
