playlist problems

wondering why i am having problems dragging mp3s into my various playlists???xmms, juk, amariok, etc,,,they seem to work ok, when i "open with" the particular player, but once it is playing and i try to drag items into it, they dont play???

also, does anyone know how to go about loadiing music collections from an external hd into juk...i can choose the right path, but it wont add it to my collection...

any ideas???i been struggling big time with various aspects of my music playing since i switched to linux, and im on the verge of throwing my box out the window....and this doesnt even take into consideration that i only got 2.1 on whatused to be a 5.1 system...argh
