playing midi files to usb keyboard

Hi Having just insttalled Mint17 I am trying to drive a keyboard via usb. The files are on cd/dvd & are seen by the system but opening an individual file the system starts looking for gstreamer plugin from the "bad" set. Click on install & Package dependencies cannot be resolved, error caused by either missing or uninstallable package warning is shown . Do I need a different sound card ?
Can anyone point me in the right direction ?
Heres hoping Many Thanks

It would help to have more information about the messages you receive. Can you tell us what package you were trying to install (was it gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly?) and what exactly the error message said.

Thanks for the prompt reply, the warning message I have copied is not word for word as displayed but the relevant information is contained ,unless there is some more detailed information, but where would this be stored?

1. "I am trying to drive a keyboard via usb." Can you explain what this means. What exactly are you trying to do.
2. "opening an individual file the system starts looking for gstreamer plugin from the "bad" set." What do you mean by "opening an individual file"? How exactly are you trying to "open" it? What program are you using to do this? (e.g. a text editor?, an mp3 player? ...)
More information about what you're trying to do would be helpful.

Have tried uploading a dropped text file of dependency details but am not sure where it has gone

It looks like your dependencies are out of sync with the version of the gstreamer plugin you're trying to install. I don't think it has anything to do with replacing a sound card. Can you post the contents of your /etc/apt/sources.list file. I think that is the source of your problem. You should not be installing files from the CD/DVD once you have installed the OS. You need the proper repositories and you need to update them once they are in place.

Hello again just returned from summer hols . I see that the report has uploaded ok . However, the machine gives this version of gstreamer automatically . Is there an alternative that will do the job.
Hopefully I dont have to manually install all the files that are shown in the report as my typing skill is useless.
