Playing dvds, pclinuxos 2007
I am completely new to linux and have installed pclinuxos 2007 on a desktop to try. So far everything has gone fine and I'm impressed, other than I am unable to play dvds. I get error messages referring to the regional encoding regardless of which player I use, vlc, mplayer etc. I presume that I have to install other software to play dvds in my region(uk), but can somebody point me in the right direction?

You need to install the package "libdvdcss". After that you should be able to play DVDs fairly easily.
Note that MPlayer's support for DVDs is rather limited. VLC has a more complete set of DVD functions. |
Many thanks for that, it worked.
