I am afraid I must agree with:

I tried Mandriva a year ago and the distribution was having loads of problems. Many of us could not get our printers working, Ibus and SCIM were not working, freezing during shut-down, etc. As it turned out, the reason printer drivers, SCIM and Ibus were not working is that recent changes had been made to the system, but they were not done properly, with the result many things could not work. These deleterious changes were made after Mandriva was bought by a company and their corporate agenda caused the development team to leave and create Mageia, as DavidMcCann mentioned.

If you like Mandriva's style, perhaps try Mageia. I have not tried it, but their goal is to create Mandriva without the bugs.

That sucks. Thanks for the info though. But that does sounds like an idea.
