play .mkv file

can anyone tell me what i need to play a .mkv file?? its a movie file but wont play in xine. i have w32codecs, realplayer, xinelib, libdvdcss, etc.. installed but still it wont play i can hear if fine tho.

suse 9.1, cheers.

Mplayer's site says it can play .mkv files. Try it.

my mplayer just crashes and closes down when i try to play the file!
any suggestions

Have you tried Totem with gstreamer-libs, preferably recent ones, including the bad and the ugly?
