Placement of system scripts

I am a new user to Linux and was wondering:
Where can I place a system script so it can be accessed from any directory?
Any response will be greatly appreciated.

you can simply put it anywhere you want and create a link to it in the users path

echo $PATH

ln -s /anyfolder/script /usr/bin/execname
