Question Pinquy installation freezing halfway

Hi all,

I'd appreciate some suggestions to help me out here. I'm trying to install Pinguy 14.04 which got stuck about halfway through, but was showing a very slow but continual download happening, so I thought it might be pulling down updates from a slow server, but after 17 hours, I figured it wasn't that, so aborted.

On my next attempt I decided not to bother connecting to the internet and getting updates, but this time it stuck at the point where I assume it would be preparing the partition.

I'm installing on an Asus K55a which is already running Windows 7 and Zorin, but there is plenty of space for Pinguy.

Not sure what other information you need to help me, so please let me know?

Thanks in advance

Did you verify the download of the PinGuy iso file by using and md5 checksum?

Do you have unallocated space on the drive?
When you boot Pinguy to the Desktop, open a terminal and run the following command and post the output here.

Quote:
sudo parted -l
That's a Lower Case Letter L in the command.

Thumbs up Fixed!

thanks yancek, you gave me a clue in your response. I went back into windows and deleted the partition, so it was just unallocated space and it's the installation is going ahead perfectly now
It didn't occur to me that having it formatted as Ext3 would be a problem for the Pinguy setup, as Zorin didn't have a problem with it, but that must've been it.
I appreciate your help
