Pidgin "Available-connecting" but not connected.

The subject line will say it all, if not most of it.
I just found out this message at status line after installation of new packages in Debian Lenny (clamav & plugins for Totem).

I tried to uninstall and reinstall pidgin 2.4.3 but I still can't log in to messenger.I can't use my IM.

How can I fix this???

what service you trying to connect to? msn messenger, google talk? maybe try restarting your router if you have one cuz iv found some routers seem to play up with certain services like msn messenger. Also proxy settings and firewall settings check them.
