php upgrade on Mandrake 10 inq

Hello everybody,

I'm not good at linux and still learning. I had to reinstall mandrakelinux due to some issue i had with login.

question 1. i like to upgrade the default php installation from php4.3.4 to the new php 5, how do i go about doing this.

do i just download the new rpm and just run it and the rpm will upgraded it for me with current configuration or do i need get complicated?

the default webpage has php4.3.4 but not sure how to confirm if php or mysql is installed but i also like to do this with mysql.

anyhelp u can give me would be greatly appreciated..
thanks everybody.

I don't know about prebuilt packages, but if you always want the latest stable version source would be the best way to go...

if you still want to use rpm do a man 'rpm' and you will find the correct syntax on how to upgrade a package
