I totally agree. But my question wasn't clear. I mean, what ranks better with the search engines? I have an old website, all in SHTML, and all of its pages (ca.400) are within the top 30. However, I have doubts about engines crawling URLs containing &, ?, = etc. What do you think?
Of course, the work around could be in creating doorway pages, but this is a huge time eater.
I want to re-write the whole website in PHP, but I worry for the seach engine ranking.
Another, parallel question:
I have a strong impression that PHP is faster than SHTML.
Once a PHP template with graphics etc. is loaded, it takes no time to load it with different textual content, because the graphics do not need to be reloaded. SHTML needs to be reloaded, and this slows down performance of the website. Is this true?
