PHP MySQL

I've already install apache, php and mysql on my fedora machine using yum and everything works fine... except I can't interact with mysql using php. I checked the phpinfo() and it states the configuration is '--without-mysql'.

Is there a way to change this without having to reinstall php by downloading and configuring the sourceball?

there is one easy way. use ready-made program like xampp. it configures everything itself.
