PHLAK issues
 

Hi there,

Is anyone here familiar with PHLAK?

I am new to Linux and I have just completed my first install (awwww!) :p I think I have set up all the partitions correctly and installed successfully with no complaints, I have just restarted and before it loads the operating system I get an error "GRUB hard disk error"

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you kindly :D

What you will need to remember is that "troubleshooting phase one" usually starts with someone coughing up enough information for people to work with. Anything useful you can share acould contribute to (faster) solving it like: changes you made in the meantime, HW configuration (like using Raid and checking master/slave setups), BIOS needing update (thats what the GRUB docs say). Or maybe you could start at Aus9's GRUB the boot loader trouble-shooter...

Thanks for your reply, I am installing this on a laptop and I have not changed any slave/master settings. I have updated the BIOS after experiencing this problem and I still get the same error message after the update. Thanks for the pointer to GRUB troubleshooter but the error message comes up before GRUB is loaded I think. I am sorry I cannot give any more information on the error but that is all what is on the screen :(
