Persistent shutdown issues
 
Hi,
My system is unable to cut off power after shutdown.I have to perform it manually.Nor can I initiate standby mode.Please advise.I use fedora core 1 and my default window manager is KDE.

Could you give us some info about your system? - desktop or laptop and what hardware you have. Also, did you update the kernel before this happened? what did you do before this happened?

my system is an Intel P4 2.2 ghz,845 gl chipset based motherboard,and 512 mb ram with Soundblaster Audigy2 platinum soundcard and radeon 9800 pro garphics card.
I haven't updated my system yet.It's a fresh install.

I have a same thing in Slackware. I fix it by removing # in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules in modprobe_apm line.
Try to find modprobe_apm line in rc.modules and remove # if itin't removed already.
After restart it will be okay.
