permissions on Ubuntu 16.04.5
 

Hi all,I have just installed Ubuntu onto my Dell optiplex 380. When I tried writing to my DVD I get the message that I dont have permission to do this. As not being very tech savvy could someone please explain ho to rectify this please. I will never go back to MS so hope I can fix the problem.

it will help to get some more information about what and how (from a gui program? or the command line) you tried to write the dvd and what the actual message was about you not having permission.

Typically to burn a CD/DVD, a regular user needs to be in the cdrom group.

sudo usermod -a -G cdrom <username>

Logout, then back in.
