permissions denied


facing a problem while coping file to xkb/symbols folder.
Error opening file '/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/trw': Permission denied
kindly guide me.

That folder and all its contents are system files (owned by root). You should not be copying user files there. What are you trying to do?

would be nice to know at least the command you tried to execute, the user logged in (and probably other relevant infos, like the permissions set on that directory).

Owned by root - be sure you know what you are doing - these are system files - use sudo or change to the root user.

Keyboard layout

Actually i am a speaker of an endangered language.i tried to copy a layout to system folder x11/symbol but after doing so still there is no layout of my language in keyboared list.i followed some instruction to create a new layout.

Which Linux distribution are you using? There are well over 500 different Linux distributions and they are not identical so methods vary.
You haven't posted the command you used which you were asked to do.
You haven't posted the owner:group and permissions of the directory to which you want to copy which you were also asked to do.
In addition to the link to instructions requested.
Without this information I doubt there is much anyone can do to help although we can all guess.

I successfully copied that layout file to user/share/x11/symbol folder and also copied a layout to ibus-m17n folder with mim extension . actually I am using virtual box with lubunto 16.04 on windows 10.I am facing problems in writing my native language.so it is necessary to carry out my work .
