Ok this is such a silly but fustrating problem, I have a directory under user/local/uvscan

DRWXRWXR-- 2 root:avscan

I added myself to the avscan group but when I try to get in to this directory it gives me permission denied.

Hi musiqdefunk,
check out SUID, SGID and Sticky bit. It will give you a clear idea about what is going wrong.

All I had to do was log out and log back in and it works fine, I new it was something simple....
