Permission issue while running live

Hello all. Its been awhile since my last noobtastic post but here I am again! I am booting off a unbunto live CD for data recovery purposes. The windows install is hosed. The unbuntu loads fine but and I can mount the partition fine. The problem is I cant access once I have mounted it because I get a "You do not have the permissions necessary..." Anyone know how to get around this running live?

Thanks All!

are you using sudo? (since ubuntu has no root user)

Code:
sudo nautilus
or whatever
