Peppermint6 Panel does not show running apps/programs

My daughter's netbook has PepperMint 6
After a couple month's use (and don't ask me what she did, she doesn't know herself), programs/apps that you open no longer show up in the taskbar/panel.

I've searched in panel settings, and found nothing to re-enable that.
I don't see anything under add, and nothing under advanced, that refers to this issue.

Might someone be able to direct me to where this setting is re-enabled?

thanks

If you and daughter are only a couple of months into it... how about installing the newer Peppermint 7 instead?

Version 7 says they have a "new whisker menu" (from xfce) but that may not be what you have in version 6.

From another forum, I found this: right-clicking on the panel, choose "Panel Settings", then "Panel Applets", then "Application Launch Bar", then "Edit". I'm not running Peppermint right now and can't confirm that, but maybe it will get you in the right ball park.

this seems highly unlikely.
i don't know which panel you are using, but i just tried with xfce4-panel, and there it is:
right-click on empty space in panel => Panel => Panel Preferences => Items => Window Buttons

I'm pretty sure this was solved on the Peppermint forum:

the OP probably just forgot to mention it here.
