Exclamation People I am ... screwed ! Redhat installation crash!

Hey people, yet another problem from the king of n00bs, Rauko. Okay, before I had linux redhat which had no kernel source, so i thought, im gonna reinstall. A format the partition on XP with partition magic, then i load of the CDROM. Everything was going fine untill i found out my third disc was scratched, and the installation crashed. The only thing I could do was press the power off button. then this weird command line tpye grub came up, and me being a n00b was like what the hell ? So I tried everything - Putting back in the XP disc, refformatting the linux partition, to get rid of the grub. I did that, and now XP wont load, it comes up with the XP setup which hangs.

I thought, okay, i need to get some fresh linux disc - So I went and got SuSe instead, they didnt have redhat. I TRIED to install this, but YaST is giving me an error.

In the installation guide, there is Software. Under that it says Some kind of Media error. And under it ERROR : No proposal. I figured this meant it couldn't get the software packages from the Cd, so i tried changing it, but nothing came up. Right now Im stuck on the SuSE Live ! CD. Help me, please, help....

Edit : This is SuSe Linux Personal 9.1 , I just bought today.

Post .

Okay the first thing I would try is completely wiping your disk:

Download this and extract all the files to a floppy disk, boot up and select to fast purg your HDD, should take about ten mins with a decent comp.

Try and install again, if it doesn't work:

What is the exact drive you're using - is it a DVD? Is it a CD-RW? Is it a combi drive?

It's okay now, the problem was SuSe didn't like me DVD drive Put it in the CD-RW drive and it went fine. Meh ... the cache with this was I could not afford to wipe my drive XD But it's okay now, I just have to install all the start menu shortcuts to my programmes, but everything is still in my C drive o.o Really weird ! !
