Pendrive Linux 2008 Mouse Issue

I have just installed Pendrive linux 2008 and love it as it allows me to do more on the schools computer with out restriction such as IRC and stuff. Well I am having an issue with it at my Home PC, it seems like the mouse is not properly configured. Left and right or X-Axis seems to make it go up and down or Y-Axis. I do not know the hotkey to make the linux menu pop up( Like the windows start menu) so I cannot access computer hardware config. I am using a Microsoft SideWinder mouse maybe cause its microsoft? rofl. Well any help would be appritiated. I am going to try a different mouse and see how that works. Thank you for your time.
