Hey all, Linux newb here. Finally got RH 9 installed on my labtop. Got some apps installed, learned my way around, configured my wireless PCMCIA card (Which I feel is quite an accomplishment being as I am the complete linux noob) but one problem I keep on running into is I don't know where to start when trying to configure my fujitsu PCMCIA CD-ROM drive. Help....
I ran across this thread which has more to do with installation issues regarding a pcmcia cd-rom drive, but maybe it will help you.
It helped me greatly. My drive works perfectly under Slack 9. I even installed from it. Cool.
Well, no. Installation was a huge problem. When I loaded in the pcmcia driver disk it would finally recognize the CD-ROM drive (the lights would finally turn on and such) but then it wouldn't give me the option to install from cd anymore. Nobody at the reallylinux.com forums could think of what was wrong. In the end I borrowed a friend's USB CD-ROM . So I didn't use my CD-ROM drive to install it but the driver disk did make it turn on.
Then you might want to try the link posted above from LQ. I thought that you had installed redhat with the pcmcia cdrom. And redhat reconized it. sorry
