I installed pclinuxos gnome on my daughters computer everything works great . However when you system shutdown pc goes threw normal shutdown then says system halted will not turn off. She needs to push the power button to actually turn off. Is there a simply fix for this?

You might want to have a look here and see if you find any useful information...
Also try playing a bit and disable/enable acpi or apmd in PCC-System-Services... See if one of those is responsible for what happens there..
