Pausing downloads

I want to download America's Army but unfortunately I'm on 56k, on windows I always used download accelerator on windows because my connection times out every 300 minutes. What would I use to pause a download while I'm reconnecting to the internet in linux? tia.

wget would be a good choice...
I think someone also came up with
a graphical front-end for it...

Do a search on http://freshmeat.net
and make wget the search term :}

Cheers,
Tink

P.S.: I downloaded my first Slack-iso
with a 56K and wget ;}

If you use mozilla (or some other Gecko-based browser), it already has a download manager built in, you can safely pause your downloads to be continued later.

In fact, I think even Konqueror has this feature... it integrates downloads with wget and you will still be able to pause/resume downloads.

So, it's even better than Windows (no external apps needed).
