path

How do I find the path to the file cmake.exe?
I found the version by typing cmake --version
but when I type cmake --path, it says "path does not exist".

Code:
$ which cmake
Note, we don't have ".exe" file extensions in linux; that's a windows thing. Normally, if cmake is installed, it will be in /usr/bin/.

To find where an executable file is, use
Code:
which filename
For cmake, use
Code:
which cmake

which is a csh/tcsh/zsh builtin command.
sh/bash/ksh need an external program to be installed - most Linux distros have that.

sh/bash/ksh/zsh have the type builtin.
Unfortunately its output format is not so nice and can vary between the different shells (and options can vary, too).

(cmake.exe is a windows executable, does not exist on a linux host) In linux there is no extension, the real name of the tool is just cmake.
