Password problem

My labtob got a two operating systems. There are windows and Boss linux.
When i ON my labtob it want to username and password. But I don't give password on labtob. Yet i give the username elcot. but i can't type password .
what can i do friends
my os is : BOSS LINUX 2.6.39-5-686

Log into console as root (hope you know root's password) and run:
passwd elcot
