password please

I've just loaded 11.10 inside vista. and I want to update the wireless driver. now this menu to download the driver has come up, with activate. after clicking on it, it say's it wants a password. So the question is what password is it looking for? I have tried my windows admin, and login. and also my 11.10 password but they have all been rejected.

It is ubuntu, right? Regardless, I think it probably wants the (linux'*) root password.

If you don't know what it is, you can set it as follows:

(on the command line)

sudo su (it will then ask your user password)
passwd root (it will ask for a new root password)

And that's it.

* I think linux won't ever ask for windows's passwords, except when you're trying to access password-protected windows' shared folders.
